The events took place in the year 202 B. C, after the fall of the Qin dynasty, when Liu Bang and Xiang Yu, the head of two opposing forces, were contending for control of the empire.
    Liu and Han Xin were offensive against Xiang Yu. Han found a mountain which was a vantage ground for ambushing and asked one soldier to pretend to surrender to Xiang in order to tempt his troops into the trap.
    Xiang Yu was trapped. He found himself with his army tightly encircled at a place.At the same time, Han’s people sang the popular songs of Chu all around Xiang Yu's troops. Hearing these songs, Xiang and his troops had a illusion that their homeland had been destroyed by the enemy.
Xiang Yu’s favorite woman Yu Ji tried to comfort him so she asked him to sit down for dinner in the tent and danced for him.But the situation seemed worse and worse. It seemed that the only way out was to break through the surrounding.
    Xiang Yu sang for the miserable end of his troops and also expressed his worries about the safety of Yu Ji. Yu Ji was very sad and sang with him too. Finally, for not to be a burden to her husband when he breaks through, ended her life with a sword.
